Wow – what a week we’ve had!!!!!!!!! Grangefield pupils are something else! The Language Perfect World Championships ended at 9.30 am this morning. Yesterday, we had three year 8 and two year 10 classes in the CLC working furiously for their language lessons, and then we just had to rely on as many pupils going on the Language Perfect site at home! And they did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked the site at regular intervals yesterday evening, and our pupils were madly learning vocabulary and gaining points for the school. I woke up quite early this morning, checked the site again, and a solitary Grangefield pupil was on the site! At registration this morning, one of our pupils, surrounded by the other members of the tutor group, was madly working, and then in first lesson we had about fifteen minutes to maintain our position – 26th – and we did !!!!! Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea how much the pupils were focussed in those last 15 minutes – you could have heard a pin drop! The count down in the last 10 seconds was amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, Grangefield pupils did us proud and we were 26th in the Championships (9th in the world in schools category of 250-500 registered pupils – we had 350), 4th in Great Britain, 18th in Spanish (7th in category), 19th in French (6th in category), 93rd in Chinese (19th in category) and the students achieved 4 Gold, 0 Silver, 15 Bronze and 30 Excellence Certificates. Well done Grangefield !!!!!! As a school we achieved 102,877 points, and collectively spent 798 hours learning !!!!!! In a week – how good is that! Lots of thanks to the Language Perfect Team for inspiring our students to learn languages!!!
