Mrs Roe’s weekly update
What a busy week we’ve had – even though it’s only been four days. The year 11’s have done a fantastic job finishing off course work and Miss Bell has told me that she was absolutely thrilled with the Spanish students, how impressed she was with their mature attitude, how they managed their revision brilliantly and even managed to help each other with revision – we have such stars at Grangefield!!! Well done to our year 11’s. Also lots of thanks to Miss Bell and Miss Salkeld for their hard work and also the extra work they have put in to help our students! The French and Urdu students, who at present only study the subject after school did really well to get through the coursework and all the forms for all three languages were signed and sent off today – phew!!!! We had some testing of year 7’s and 8’s and otherwise classes were starting new topics. Other classes in KS3 continued to work well in French, Spanish and Urdu. Year 8 pupils are now enjoying their third language and some year 9 pupils are now learning Mandarin with Miss Yuan. The French trip to the Pas de Calais in June is almost all organised! We are still waiting for a few photos and European Health Cards from pupils, but the itinerary is about to be finalised, we had a good meeting with parents of the lucky students going on the trip this week, and final information will be sent to parents in the next couple of weeks. The staff who are accompanying the trip, are really excited too, and if all goes well, and the Wifi at the hotel works, we can update parents about the trip via the blog, while we are in France!
Homework
Mrs Roe’s classes
Year 7 – f and g – we spent the lessons this week testing pupils in all skill areas and so homework is fairly easy. Pupils have been told to revise clothes and school subjects on the games on the blog – accessible via the Games category on the left of this update. Pupils have also been told to revise these topics on Linguascope.
Year 8 – f and g – Revise for the unit test. 8f should also revise for the speaking test. 8g should also revise for the speaking test, but some pupils were absent for the last lesson due to the Maths challenge, so the rest of the class prepared a dialogue for testing, inviting someone to the cinema – all on the vocabulary sheet you already have – so no excuses (and by the way, well done for being chosen to do the Maths challenge!)
