Mrs Roe’s weekly update
It’s been an exciting week here at Grangefield, mainly because Mrs Beadnall organised the Prom fashion show, which lots of pupils and teachers helped with on Wednesday evening. The pupils were absolutely fantastic, and you’d think both the boys and girls had been on the catwalk before. They looked so glamorous! It was hosted by TFM Radio’s Wayne Allen who did a superb job and really got the crowd going. Then Mr Turnbull introduced the pupils wearing their fine outfits from many local retailers, and did a brilliant continuity job and organised the music, The lighting, organised by Mr Carrs was top class, and the show was opened by some of our talented dancers. I found the following quote from Wayne Allen’s twitter page (I’ve never tweeted before!) and thought this summed up what everyone thought! Hope it’s OK to include it here!
TFM Radio
Wayne here, Just got in from hosting a fashion show at Grangefield School, Stockton. Top school, top people. So tired, been to Nandos now bed and soon time to make more time for me and my family...
Heigh ho! Back to languages at Grangefield. We had some great Mandarin lessons this week, and one of the classes got to try some real Chinese Jasmine tea in Chinese tea cups which was different! Miss Yuan also did some calligraphy in her Mandarin club this week. The year 9’s took some reading and speaking FCSE tests, and will take their next listening and reading tests next week, so please check dates and times on the blog (also under exams category). We had a few year 7 pupils drop out of the French trip, and so with a few spare places, I told my year 8 class about the trip this afternoon, and there seemed to be a lot of interest. Parents of year 8 pupils should see the letter and talk to their children about it. The company has given us a short extension to get the money in, so although it’s quite late in the day, if you could get in a first deposit in as soon as possible, and the rest as soon as you can, it would be appreciated. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for further information.
